Built for how hunting teams really work
Why HuntMesh
-
Everyone on one map
Hunters, dog handlers, drivers and dogs share one picture of the hunt. The hunt leader sees who is where, and everyone knows where the dogs are.
-
Honest about time
Every marker shows how old its position is. Last position, last contact and last movement are kept apart, so an old position never looks live.
-
Made for the forest
Maps, your own position and your tracks work without coverage. New positions are saved and shared as soon as the signal returns.
Features
Everything the team needs. Nothing it doesn’t.
The first release is an app for phones. HuntMesh nodes with mesh radio come later.
- First release
See the whole team
Position, role and status for everyone in the hunt, with dogs and people shown differently on a topographic map.
- First release
A phone in the harness
Turn a spare phone into a dog tracker. Dog mode shares the position at an interval that follows what the dog is doing.
- First release
Start without an account
Create a team and invite with a share code. Sign in with Google, Apple or an email code later – only if you want to.
- First release
Topographic maps offline
Download your hunting ground before you leave. Nordic topographic maps and property lines are planned from the start.
- First release
Alerts that tell the truth
SOS and lost-dog alerts show whether they are saved, sent, received or confirmed – never “everyone notified” without proof.
- First release
Chat and hunt timeline
Messages, check-ins from stands and hunt events in one timeline the whole team can follow.
- First release
Track log and export
Every hunt is saved on your phone. Export tracks as GPX and keep your history for as long as you choose.
- Later
Stands, zones and boundaries
Mark stands, the meeting point and hazard areas, and get an alert when a dog or a hunter crosses a boundary.
Every role
One app, a view for every role
The role decides what you see and how often your phone shares its position. The hunt leader sets the roles for the team.
Hunt leader
Overview and safety for the whole team
- See every hunter and dog at a glance
- Approve each new member before they see any positions
- Start and end the hunt, and gather the team
- Follow check-ins and events in the timeline
Stand
Calm on the stand, aware of everyone
- See dogs and drivers approaching your stand
- Your phone shares less often while you stand still
- Check in on your stand and check out when you leave
- A quiet screen with only what matters
Driver
Keep the line, know your neighbours
- See the drive line and the drivers next to you
- Direction and distance to any team member
- Your track is saved even without coverage
Dog handler
Know where your dog is – and what it is doing
- Live position and activity from the dog’s phone
- Bearing, distance and height difference to the dog
- Lost-dog view with last position, age and contact
Dog
Tracked by a phone today, a rugged node later
- Running, standing or lying, from the motion sensor
- Update interval follows the dog’s activity
- History follows the dog, also when it changes device
Observer
For family at home or the landowner
- Invited by the team, for a limited time
- Sees only what the team allows
- Every member can see who can see them
For the dog in the team
Your dog on the map – with a phone you already have
Put a spare phone in a harness pocket, switch on dog mode and lock the screen. HuntMesh shares the dog’s position over the mobile network at an interval that follows what the dog is doing.
- Activity from the motion sensor: running, standing, lying
- Last known position with age when coverage drops
- Track saved on the phone and sent when the signal returns
- Lost-dog view with last position, age and contact
Works best with a rugged Android phone with a big battery, in a padded, insulated pocket. A phone and harness often weigh 250–400 g, so it suits medium and large dogs.
Later Coming later: the HuntMesh node – a rugged unit with mesh radio for dogs that range far beyond coverage.
How it works
From the parking spot to the first drive in three steps
-
Create a team
Name the team and the hunt. No account, no email, no password.
-
Invite with a share code
Send the code in any message. The hunt leader approves each new member before they see any positions.
-
Hunt together
Everyone appears on the map with role, status and the age of their position.
After the hunt: tracks, timeline and GPX export stay on your phone.
Position age
A position is only as good as its age
Coverage comes and goes in the forest. HuntMesh never pretends. Drag the slider to see how a marker changes as its position gets older.
- Last position, last contact and last movement are shown separately
- A sign of life updates the contact – never the age of the position
- No green “online” dot that hides an old position
- Last position
- 4 s
- Last contact
- 4 s
HuntMesh nodes · in development
Where coverage ends, the mesh takes over
One rugged node for every role – dog, dog handler, stand, driver and relay. Nodes pass positions to each other over radio, hop by hop, and use the mobile network when they can.
- Mesh radio across VHF, UHF and ISM bands, within the rules of each region
- LTE-M with your own eSIM, and Bluetooth to your phone
- No subscription for the radio network
- The same node for every role – only the antenna and mount change
Design targets for the first generation
Design target- battery in dog role at 2.5 s updates
- 48–72 h
- with battery, without collar
- < 160 g
- waterproof for one hour
- 10 m
- operating temperature
- −25 to +55 °C
Targets, not measurements. We will publish field results when we have them.
AI assistance · later
A smarter debrief. The hunter decides.
AI in HuntMesh will help you prepare, stay quiet in the field and learn after the hunt. It shows its sources and data quality – and it never gives a green light to shoot.
- Shows its sources
- Never a basis for a shot
- Tracking works without AI or a subscription
-
Hunt report and debrief
A draft report from the timeline, tracks and events – yours to edit and approve.
-
Hunting ground from your documents
Turn agreements, sketches and property maps into a draft hunting ground that you confirm on the map.
-
Dog activity and bays
See patterns in bays and tracks across hunts, with the uncertainty shown.
-
Quiet field mode
No chatter or sounds you didn’t ask for. Critical alerts follow their own rules.
Your hunt, your data
Private by design
-
Stored in the EU
Team data is stored with our cloud provider in the EU.
-
Local first
Your own tracks stay on your phone until you choose to share them.
-
See who sees you
Every member can see who can see their position, observers included.
-
No location in notifications
Push notifications never contain a position.
-
You decide how long
History is deleted after a period the team chooses, and can be exported first.
-

Pricing
Fair by design
Our goal is the lowest price that keeps HuntMesh running – to make it easy to bring the whole team.
-
No subscription for what costs nothing to run
Local tracking, the basic app, offline maps that can legally be included, setup, export and recovery.
-
Running costs priced just above cost
Cloud sync, licensed maps and heavy AI analysis are priced just above what they cost to run.
-
No fee for the radio network
HuntMesh nodes talk to each other without a subscription. Mobile data is paid directly to your own operator.
Prices are set after the pilot, when we know what HuntMesh costs to run.
When can I download HuntMesh?
HuntMesh is in development for Android and iPhone. A pilot with hunting teams comes first. Join the pilot list and we will tell you when you can get it.
Do I need an account?
No. You can create a team, invite others with a share code and share your position without signing in. An account with Google, Apple or a code by email lets you restore your teams and history on a new phone.
Does it work without mobile coverage?
Partly. Maps, your own position and your tracks work offline, and the team’s last known positions stay on the map with their age. Sharing positions over distance needs mobile coverage – until HuntMesh nodes add mesh radio.
Can my dog wear a phone?
Yes. Dog mode turns a phone in a harness into a tracker. A rugged Android phone with a big battery works best. On iPhone, location access must be set to “Always”.
Which phones are supported?
Android and iPhone. We will publish the tested phones and minimum versions before release.
Who can see my position?
The members of your hunt – and observers only if the team invites them. Every member can see who can see their position.
Where is my data stored?
Team data is stored in the EU. Your private tracks stay on your phone unless you share them.
Is SOS an emergency service?
No. SOS in HuntMesh is a priority alert to your team, with honest delivery status. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number.
What will it cost?
Prices are set after the pilot. Things that cost nothing to run will not need a subscription, and the radio network will have no fee.
What are HuntMesh nodes?
Rugged trackers for dogs and hunters with mesh radio, LTE-M and Bluetooth. They are in development, and radio products must be approved in each market before they are sold.
Can I use HuntMesh outside Norway?
HuntMesh is designed as one global platform with regional settings. We are starting with the Nordic countries.
